Slices of the City / London Bus Routes

Each route as about the everyday life you see out of the window as you take the bus. Each series is taken on one journey and shown in chronological order along with the route number it was taken on.

The bus routes of London carve the city up along many different lines, each one an interconnected pathway offering a unique glimpse into city life. Each route connecting across different areas, cultures and architectural styles.

Route 40 (further down) starts up in the glass and steel facaded extension of the financial city which serves as the gateway from the city of London through to the east end. Fenchurch, bustling with smart dressed insurance and financial workers leads over London Bridge, glimpsing Tower Bridge and HMS Belfast swamped in the grey murky waters of the Themes.

The Shard looms above in the fog. White water stains daub the blue walls of the Elephant and Castle shopping centre, which always looks like its unexpected collapse is imminent. An old gent in a blue coat is looked down upon by smartly dressed mannequins in the window of a discount shop as cheep shoes line a street market propped up by cardboard boxes and crates.

Somewhere near Camberwell three mobility scooters are parked outside a greasy spoon with the shutters half down, while the faded exterior of an independent DIY shop gives way to the green suburban sprawl of Dulwich.
