Minimal Skies - Finding escape in busy urban spaces.
Minimal Skies is a set of 64 photographs exploring the blue minimalism above us
I first started shooting this series in 2011 as a way of finding calm and tranquility amongst the fighting and jostling attention seeking environment of the city.
Isolated against the bold blue of a clear sky it became about capturing fleeting moments and quirky details. Everywhere I would go over the next ten years I would collect these moments of quiet as I traveled between New York, Copenhagen, Miami, London & Barcelona amongst others.
In this collection I've sort to isolate these fleeting moments and quirky details of the cityscape and isolate them all against the deep blue of the sky. Allowing each one to be juxtaposed and compared to one another. Creating a collection of found objects in the sky.
From different cities around the world the backdrop stays the same but the style of the details are different. Two street lamps, a round one in Copenhagen, a square one in NYC.
Minimal Skies is a reminder of the vastness of the sky in which all urban spaces lie beneath.
